Sunday matinée

Today I want to introduce Robert Mapplethorpe. A photographer who was able to “draw with light”, the true meaning of the word photography. To me, black and white images like his represent the mastery of shading. Although his subjects were sometimes unusual and shocking to the public, he was one of the finest black and white artists I know of. He lived and worked in New York. If you ever have the opportunity, go and visit the Mapplethorpe museum near Montreux, Switzerland. I can but give you a small impression, but if you stand in front of his work, covering an entire wall, you’ll know what I mean.
